Uniform Matters

Mrs Michelle McDonnell - Principal
In 2023, Kindergarten and Year 3 will begin the transition to the new St Peter's Anglican Grammar uniforms with new uniform items, bags and hats compulsory in these cohorts.  This uniform has been designed to give students a variety of options to wear across the year, focusing on a more play-based style in Kindergarten - Year 2, before students move into a more formal uniform in Year 3.
Please click here for information and photos of the uniform options which students in Kindergarten and Year 3 will wear from the beginning of next year.  All uniform items, with the exception of shoes, must be purchased from our School Shop.
Students in other grades will begin to wear this uniform over the next few years or whenever their current uniform needs replacing, whichever happens first.  We are aware that there are a number of families who are keen to have all their children in our new uniform and most new uniform items will be available for purchasing prior to the end of 2022.  Please note supplies of the girls dress will arrive in January, however, we hope to have one of each size available at the end of November for students to try on and order.

Grandparents Day

We are looking forward to welcoming our grandparents to "Grandparents Day - 2022" on Monday, 24 October 10.00am - 12.30pm.

Our programme of events is below:

  • 10.00am Music Concert, featuring our school choirs, bands and string ensembles
  • 10.45am Devonshire Tea
  • 11.15am Classroom Visits and Book Fair

Please note that this is a special event for Grandparents or another special person who plays this role in your child's life and we ask that parents do not attend on this occasion. The Music performances will be also performed at our upcoming Music Festival for parents to enjoy.

We are excited for this special event and hope they can join us.

Year 6 Exhibition 2022

Mrs Melinda Richardson
As part of the PYP framework, students in Year 6 participate in the Exhibition. This event is a showcase of their learning, encompassing growth academically as well as personally.
Our students this year collaboratively designed the Central Idea: Human choices challenge equality, under the Trandisciplinary Theme 'Sharing the Planet'. They have worked in small groups to authentically research a range of real world issues such as, habitat destruction, First Nation Rights, space junk, mental health and access to resources. Through the research process, students are required to know their learning well, and to creatively and critically consider how their learning can be presented to the school community in a way that provokes action. Our desire is that our students share a powerful message about their group's issue, including ways that members of the St Peter's community can make a difference.
The process of Exhibition is a large undertaking for a number of our staff as well, with teachers across the school taking on the role of mentors. My thanks to our wonderful Year 6 teaching team, and our mentors, for the support they have provided in order to ensure the success of our Year 6 learners.
All members of our school community are warmly invited to attend the Exhibition, to be held on Thursday, 27 October, commencing at 6:30pm in the school hall. At this event, you are encouraged to engage with the students and ask them questions. It would also be wonderful for you to provide them with feedback, as well as congratulations as they finalise their primary schooling!

2023 School Travel Applications

Applications for student travel in 2023 opened from Monday, 10 October 2022.

Students who need a School Opal card or travel pass for 2023 can apply now. A new application will need to be submitted if they are applying for the first time, or if they are requesting an additional travel entitlement as a result of a new shared parental responsibility situation (e.g. joint custody).

Students who change address, school, campus location, have repeated a year or received an expiry notification from Transport for NSW for their school travel entitlement should renew or update their details before the end of term 4. This will ensure that schools can endorse applications, and entitlements remain valid for the start of the 2023 school year. School Opal card holders will have the changes applied to their existing card.

If a student's distance eligibility has changed based on their grade (i.e. grade two to grade three), the system will automatically update their entitlement if they meet the new criteria. If they do not meet the new eligibility criteria, we will send an expiry notification via email.

Students who have an entitlement approved under a medical condition that is due to expire will receive a notification advising them to re-apply.

Term Bus Pass holders will receive a notification to re-apply.

Students in the Opal network applying for an Opal card (including a Term Bus Pass) for the first time will receive their Student Opal card at their nominated postal address. Cards will be mailed out from January 2023.

Students living in rural and regional (R&R) areas should receive their travel pass at the start of the new school year from their nominated transport operator. It may come via the school or be sent directly to them at home. Note: some R&R operators do not issue travel passes. Students/parents should confirm with their nominated operator if they do not receive a pass.

School Travel Application Endorsement

Occasionally, applicants completing the online form make mistakes, so we ask that school administrators be mindful of this and only endorse applications with correct information.

If you identify an error, you can amend the first name, date of birth or grade of a student’s travel application by clicking in the relevant row on the portal. Please ensure you have confirmed the information before making any changes. Refer to page 16 of the School Portal User Guide for further instructions. The user guide is accessible within the School Portal by clicking the arrow next to your username.

If a student’s details cannot be confirmed or they are not yet enrolled please do not endorse the application. By selecting ‘no’ the application will be rejected and the applicant will be informed. They will then need to submit a new application.

If a school administrator endorses an application in error, please advise our Concessions team as soon as possible here

If school administrators require access to the School Portal, please request an account here

If you need to remove school portal access for staff members who have left the school recently, please let us know via a feedback form and select 'school/operator portal’ and then ‘remove existing user access’.

Transport Concession Entitlement Cards (TCECs)

Schools applying for Transport Concession Entitlement Cards (TCECs) for senior students are advised to submit applications at least four weeks before the end of Term 4. This will allow time for processing and delivery to the school before the holiday period commences. Applications scheduled for delivery during the holiday period will be held and delivered when school recommences from January 2023.

When applying for TCECs before the end Term 4 2022, ensure you enter the grade the student is in this year, not the grade they will be in during 2023. E.g., Year 11 students who have commenced Year 12 studies are still considered as being in grade 11 until the end of 2022.

Travel from Term 1 2023

We ask that parents plan ahead and make sure their child knows which service/s to use and has a valid ticket to travel; either a School Opal card or Child/Youth Opal card (within Greater Sydney) or a School Travel Pass (outside Greater Sydney), from the start of the school year.

Applications for 2023 School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS) travel open at the start of Term 4 2022, so parents/students can apply or update details early and be ready for the start of the new school year.

Most students using the Opal network will not need a new Opal card and can continue travelling on their existing card each year.

The start of the year is a busy period for local transport operators, and students travelling without a valid ticket make service planning and operations difficult.

We recognise that for some families last minute changes to school enrolments mean they may not have a School Opal card or Travel Pass for the start of term. In the Opal network, we strongly encourage these families to have their children travel with a Child/Youth Opal card until they receive their valid School Opal card. If outside Greater Sydney, parents should contact their local bus operator to discuss their travel needs.

Bus operators are flexible and understanding, particularly at the start of the school year, and will ensure students can travel safely to and from school. But to best support our operators we encourage all students to have a valid ticket, as early as possible, from the start of the school year.

Students using School Opal cards are also reminded that they must tap on and tap off in line with the Student code of conduct and Opal terms of use.

Jersey Return

Thank You Mr Gorman

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding leadership and service of our outgoing Headmaster, Mr Brendan Gorman. Mr Gorman commenced at St Peter’s in 2014, undertaking the challenging task of leading the school after the passing of the much admired Headmaster, Mr Stephen Bomford. During his nine year tenure, Mr Gorman oversaw an era of development and forward thinking to ensure St Peter’s maintained its proud standing and reputation across the Macarthur region.

Mr Gorman brought with him a passion and vision for developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who seek to care for others and the world around them. This philosophy led to St Peter’s becoming an International Baccalaureate World School delivering the Primary Years Program (PYP) that continues to engage and inspire our students and staff to this day.

Mr Gorman oversaw numerous improvements of the school site including the redevelopments of the Hall Playground, Pre-Kindergarten classrooms, South Building Classrooms, Main Playground Climbing Equipment, Soccer/Volleyball Playing Surface as well as the new Modular Building consisting of STEAM, Music and Tuition Rooms. Most recently, he implemented the updating of the school name, crest and uniform along with the establishment of St Peter’s Heart.

Mr Gorman led in a relational manner and continually sought to develop and maintain strong community partnerships. The introduction of the popular Friday Coffee Cart and Student Chips & Chat sessions are small examples of his desire to bring people together in fellowship. He modelled ‘Life Through Christ’ in the genuine love and care he displayed for students, staff and families. He steadfastly upheld the Christian values upon which St Peter’s was founded and was committed to providing students with a greater understanding of the hope, truth and love of Jesus.

I am undoubtedly richer for the experience of working and learning alongside Mr Gorman. I know he (and much loved family dog Flossy) will be greatly missed by many. We wish him and his beautiful family the very best in this next chapter of life. On behalf of the entire St Peter’s community - Thank you for your service Mr Gorman.
