2024 Middle Leaders

Mrs Michelle McDonnell - Principal
As we plan for 2024, the Executive team and I have been considering how to further meet the needs of our school community in the areas of student wellbeing, academic improvement for all students, and pastoral care, with the goal of encouraging our students to live their lives through Christ.

In addition to the previously announced staff appointments of Miss Burns as our School Chaplain, Mrs Hadfield as our Deputy Principal with a particular focus on Pastoral Care, and Mrs Nielson as our Head of Teaching and Learning, I am pleased to share the following Middle Leader appointments for 2024.

Working alongside Mrs Hadfield will be:
  • Mrs Kathy Hollis - Coordinator of Students (Pre-Kindergarten - Year 2)
  • Mr Troy Calnan - Coordinator of Students (Years 3 - 6)

Both Mrs Hollis and Mr Calnan bring a wealth of experience to their roles as they have held the positions of Stage Dean for several years. Their roles will oversee pastoral care beyond the classroom teacher.

Joining Mrs Nielson will be:
  • Mrs Lindsay Connell - Coordinator of Teaching and Learning (Pre-Kindergarten - Year 2)
  • Mrs Heather Brown - Coordinator of Teaching and Learning (Years 3 - 6)

Our Teaching and Learning team will focus on the continued implementation of the new English and Mathematics Syllabi, which will become mandatory across Kindergarten - Year 6 in 2024.

I would like to express my gratitude to our Stage Deans of 2023, Mrs Jamie Nielson (Early Stage 1), Mrs Kathy Hollis (Stage 1), Mr Troy Calnan (Stage 2), and Mr Joey Stockinger (Stage 3), for the incredible work they have done with our students, families, and staff over the past year.

Mr Joseph Stockinger

It is with sadness that I have accepted the resignation of Mr Joey Stockinger, who will be leaving us at the end of 2023 to pursue new teaching opportunities. Mr Stockinger has been a valuable member of our teaching and middle leadership team for the past 7 years, and we are deeply appreciative of his contributions to our school, both in the classroom and through co-curricular activities such as Public Speaking and the Poetry Competition. We wish him the best as he departs at the end of the year.

Christmas at St Peter's

I am excited to spend the evening with our school community as we begin the Christmas celebrations early with our Christmas event tonight.  We encourage pre-registered families to bring a picnic blanket or chairs, enjoy a picnic dinner or purchase food from one of the food trucks available and enjoy family fun as we consider the birth of our Saviour with Miss Burns and community carol singing.  It is sure to be a wonderful night!

What's Coming Up....

We are coming to the busiest time of the year, with a range of Orientation and Presentation events taking place over the remaining weeks of the school year.  Information was emailed out last week regarding our Presentation and Christmas events.  Please speak with our office staff if you did not receive this email.

Next week, we are excited to welcome our Pre-Kindergarten cohort of 2024 for their Class Orientation.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to meet their teachers, see their classrooms and get excited about joining our school community next year!

I am also looking forward to our Poetry Competition next Friday.  Participating students have been working hard each week before school to prepare for this amazing opportunity!

Parent and Carers Afternoon Teas

We would like to invite our Year 3 - 5 parents and carers to join members of our school Executive for afternoon tea on one of the following dates:

  • Thursday, 16 November 2023
  • Tuesday, 28 November 2023
This is an opportunity to connect with other parents and chat with our senior staff.

To book, please click on the link below.

We are also looking forward to welcoming our Year 6 Parents and Carers for our inaugural Year 6 Breakfast on Thursday 23 November, 2023.  Further details to come.

Student Led Conferences

Our annual Student Led Conferences will take place on Wednesday, 22 November 2023 commencing at 3.30pm until 7.00pm for students in Kindergarten to Year 6.

Student Led Conferences are not Parent Teacher Interviews. Teachers will stand back to allow students to take resposibility in sharing their learning.

This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to step into the classroom with your child/ren, and share in aspects of their learning.

Information regarding bookings for these will be emailed to families early next week.

Staff Professional Development Day

Please be reminded that the Staff Professional Development day advertised in the hard copy calendar for next Friday 17 November is not taking place.  School will continue as normal for St Peter's Anglican Grammar and St Peter's Heart students.

Life @ St Peter's

Mrs Nerida Hadfield - Deputy Principal

What an amazing fortnight we have had in our school. It has been full of opportunities, challenges and celebrations. We have had the pleasure of hosting students who will attend our school next year and showing them what a wonderful place St Peter’s is. Our students are great at making them feel welcome and I am proud of the care they have shown to them.

Student Celebrations

Last Friday night was the Fisher’s Ghost Art Awards. Rui S (SPACE) was one of 3 winners of the Primary division. There were more than 1400 entries and over 650 entries in the primary and secondary divisions. This is a prestigious award with $50,000 awarded to the winner of the Open category. Congratulations to Rui for his amazing sketch shown here.

Congratulations to Lachlan C (SPACE) who has trialled over 2 weekends and was selected in the Under 12s NSW Futsal team to compete at Nationals in January 2024. This is an amazing achievement. Well done Lachlan!

During the Month of October and November Guy C (SPACE) was part of a team that competed in a range of events for the NSW State VexIQ Robotics Competition. This involved building a robot and coding it so it could complete a range of tasks, including collecting blocks and placing them in a goal.  Congratulations to Guy and his team who have won the NSW State Championship. In December they will be off to Adelaide to compete in the National League. We wish him all the best.

Music Festival

Last Monday night was an amazing opportunity to be entertained by our incredible Musical groups. The Primary Choir opened the evening and sang with gusto and set the scene for a delightful night. The strings performances were impressive with students from Kindergarten to Year 6 taking us on a journey during their pieces. The Year One and Two Choir was very cute and kept us wanting more. The band has grown in both numbers and ability, and continue to perform with great enthusiasm. Our Vocal Ensemble sang with sweetness and the joy on their faces was wonderful to see. The performance of our orchestra (combining the band and strings) concluded the evening. This was spectacular and a credit to all students involved.

A massive thank you to staff involved who helped run the evening. A particular huge thank you to Mr Stoi for all his organisation and Mr Connell for the supportive role he played along with his technical abilities.

Swim School

Our students have participated in a water safety week and teachers have reported they have seen a growth in their confidence during these 5 weeks. All students were a pleasure to take to the pool each visit. For those who don’t have swimming lessons out of school you are encouraged to consider this leading up to Summer.

Carpark before 3pm

Please be aware that there are occasions when buses need to come in to drop students off from various activities prior to 3pm. Cars should not be coming through the driveway prior to this, as this is less safe for our students disembarking.

Spotlight on St Peter's Heart

Mrs Deborah Nash - Head of Learning Enhancement
Students at St Peter's Heart have enjoyed a range of exciting experiences in the past two weeks!

Our Kindergarten students from the Galahs class were enthralled with the animals they met at the Symbio Zoo excursion. From a python and bearded dragon to kangaroos and emus, as well as meerkats and tiny monkeys, students were thrilled to see the variety of animals that God has made.

The Kookaburras have been immersing themselves in lessons about caring for God's world and nurturing friendships. They are building confidence in asking God for guidance and expressing gratitude for His answers to their prayers. They are grateful to their parents who continue to nurture their love for learning and share their journeys of discovery at home.

Students in the Lorikeets class have been exploring the enchanting world of Roald Dahl's 'Esio Trot'. They have been fascinated with the quirky characters in this whimsical tale and the heart-warming narrative. They even created their own 'Alfie' and brought the story to life through colourful crafts.

St Peter's Annual Tennis Competition

Mrs Kasie Bingham - Sports Administrator

Congratulations to Woojin S and Ela E the St Peter’s Singles Tennis Champions for 2024.

The Doubles Competition will continue right to the end of the term. We are praying the good weather will persist. The amount of interest this year has been outstanding, and we hope all players have enjoyed their opportunities.

IPSHA Gymnastics

On Wednesday, 2nd November, 15 students travelled to the Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatics Centre to compete in the IPSHA Gymnastics competition. We had a range of competitors in four different levels, each performing on different apparatus. Many students achieved personal best results and all displayed great sportsmanship with the other students across the different schools.

Congratulations to Sophia, Alison, Everly, Sophia N., Olivia, Remy, Emma, Sophie, Amelia, Isobel, Imogen, Nate, Liam, Oliver and Alexander for their outstanding effort at the competition.

Toys 'n' Tucker

This Christmas, we’re collecting food and gifts for those who are doing it tough. Our partnership with Anglicare’s “Toys ‘n’ Tucker” aims to share the joy of Christmas with families who would otherwise go without.  Last year Toys ‘n’ Tucker delivered 4,000 toy hampers and 5,000 gift hampers directly into the hands of our local community.

Even the smallest donation can make the biggest impact!

Drop off your donations at the office and let’s come together as a community, reflecting God’s love and generosity to those who are most vulnerable.
