St. Peter's Anglican Primary School - Promotional Video

St. Peter's is such a busy, vibrant learning community.  There is so much happening in the classrooms, the playground and many opportunities for students to get involved!

In July, we had the opportunity to showcase some of our school to a camera crew resulting in the production of a number of promotional clips.  One of these was launched at our 'Movies with Mr Gorman' event during the school holidays.  I am sure many students who visited Event Cinemas and Narellan United Cinemas during the break spotted themselves, their friends or their classrooms up on the big screen.

In this newsletter, we are excited to share with you our Junior Primary clip.  Enjoy watching all the wonderful things your school has to offer!

New Playground Design

Students in Kindergarten to Year 6 were very excited in a recent assembly when Mr Gorman showed them the design for our new playground.  This playground will be situated along the back of the hall and give a fantastic new play space for our older students to enjoy!  The design is currently being tendered and we will see work beginning as soon as possible.

Library Furniture

Much of our new Library furniture has arrived today and is in the process of being set up. We are excited to continually improve our learning spaces for the benefit of our students. Thank you to our parent volunteers who have assisted today.

Public Speaking Competition

Congratulations to all the students who competed in the St. Peter's Public Speaking Competition on Tuesday, 6 August 2019. The evening highlighted the talents of 13 Years 4-6 students as they delivered their speeches with confidence, conviction and poise. Students also performed an impromptu speech, receiving their topic only minutes before they had to deliver it.

The 13 participants all received medallions to acknowledge their achievements.

Book Character Parade - "Reading is My Secret Power"

On Friday, 9 August we had our annual Book Character Parade. Whilst not unique to our school by any means, the level of genuine participation, effort and convincing 'book characters' on display, was simply amazing.

It was wonderful to see how our students use the parade as a catalyst to discuss the books they are reading. The enquiries for books in our library are testimony to the huge benefit to our students, of a day such as our Book Character Parade.

Gateway 8 2019

On Thursday, 15 August 2019 two teams of Years 5 and 6 students travelled to Macarthur Anglican School to participate in the Gateway 8. The Gateway 8 is a competition that challenges and enthuses gifted and talented students in creative academic pursuits. Over the year students have been preparing for this event at the da Vinci Club which is held each Monday morning from 8:10 am. The Years 5 and 6 teams completed a range of tasks designed to stimulate the eight multiple intelligences outlined by Howard Gardner, emphasising higher order thinking skills, assisting students to develop their abilities to analyse, synthesise and create.

Notice of Intention to Leave St. Peter's

All parents are required to give a full term’s notice, in writing to the Headmaster, of their intention to withdraw. Of course we hope this isn't the case for any family in the school but understand that situations change.

The last day to provide notice of your intention to withdraw without financial penalty is:
Friday, 27 September 2019 (Last day Term 3).

Smart Watches

We have noticed a number of students wearing smart watches at school. Smart watches that have SIM cards, e-sims or connectivity may not be worn by students during the day at school. If students wear these, they will be asked to sign them in at the office as is the process for mobile phones.

In addition, any watches that allow photo taking are not permitted to be worn to school.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep our school students safe in this area.
