Uniform Matters

Mrs Michelle McDonnell - Principal
With the beginning of Week 4, we are looking forward to seeing all students returning in their full Winter Uniform.  Students should wear their Blazer and Walking Hat each day as they arrive at school.

Girls may wear either long grey socks or grey stockings, both of which should be purchased from our Uniform Shop.  Girls cardigans and boys jumpers must be brought to school every day, as they will wear these in the classroom and playground if cold during the day.

On Wednesday, students must wear their full tracksuit to and from school.  Shorts may be worn underneath as long pants may be taken off during the day.  A reminder that sports shoes should be predominantly white.

Year 6 will be given their Graduation polo shirts over the coming week.  These may be worn on Friday with their PE uniform.  Year 6 should continue to wear their House colour polo shirt on Wednesday for Sport.

OSHC

It has been fantastic seeing many of our students returning back to OSHC. The children have enjoyed being with their friends as they play on the new playground equipment, digging massive holes and gigantic mountains in the sandpit. The children have also been participating in table tennis matches, exploring colour mixing and the art of origami.

The children also spent time making some lovely Mother's day gifts, which we hope all of our deserving mothers loved.

Sounds of Delight

Throughout this week, as I've greeted families at the front of the school, and walked the campus, one thing has struck me consistently. The sounds of sheer delight in everyone.

Students, even those who at times find school challenging, were delighted to be back. To catch up with friends, to see their teacher, to interact, question and learn in a manner of which many prefer. After all, teaching is about connection and community .Teaching is about relationships and that was strained through our remote learning environment.

But the delight didn't stop there! I watched and heard teachers absolute delight in seeing their students return. In hearing how much they love school and have eagerly awaited 'permission' to return.

The parents have been delighted also. To be able to have a short period of time without someone underfoot, knowing they are in an environment where they are known and cared for. To return to some sense of 'normal' has been a real joy.

The sounds have been amazing and each day, as slightly more students return, those sounds have become stronger and stronger.

Welcome back to those who have returned and to those yet to return, we look forward to seeing you soon.

Next week, we have all Prep, Kindergarten and Year 1 students return full time. Please note that students in these grades who are absent, will be marked as absent. If you are continuing to 'self isolate' please advise the school through absence@stpeters.nsw.edu.au

Prep, Kindergarten & Year 1 students will not have the same remote learning environment as we revert to our face to face learning environment.

For families choosing to self-isolate, a weekly overview of learning will be shared at the commencement of the school week, outlining a variety of online and hands-on learning experiences from the resource packs for completion. Families will also be able to utilise RAZKids and Mathseeds (Kindergarten) or Mathletics (Year 1).

Students in Years 2 - 6 will return on the following days:
  • Argyle, Bligh & Cook: Monday and Tuesday
  • Cumberland, Durham & Roxburgh: Wednesday & Thursday
  • Friday: All students will have specialist lessons
Of course anyone who needs to be at school on any other day is more than welcome to do so, and will be well looked after.

Thanks for your ongoing patience and support. I'm looking forward to catching up with you soon.
