Uniform Matters

Mrs Michelle McDonnell - Principal
It has been wonderful to see our students back at school dressed smartly in their school uniforms, and in particular our Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Year 3 cohorts in their new St Peter's Grammar uniforms.  We appreciate the hard work of Mrs Mizzi as she has met with each family to ensure they have the required uniform items.

Transition to New St Peter's Grammar Uniforms

Carpark Safety

Thank you for working with us as a school community to dismiss students each afternoon in a safe and timely manner.
To ensure that safety of all during our afternoon pickup, please note the following:
  • All cars should enter the school driveway from the left lane of Howe St.
  • Parents of students in Years 3-6 who are utilising drive through in front of St Peter's church, may move into the right hand lane once they have entered the driveway and must ensure there is sufficient space to enter the church driveway before passing the "STOP" sign on the right hand side of the driveway.
  • Only parents of Kindergarten students should enter the driveway prior to 3.15pm.  Thank you for understanding if we need to ask you to circle around and rejoin the queue
  • Once in either drive through line, please do not leave your car.  Staff will escort students to the car once you reach the collection bays.

Revised Bus Routes for 2023

Thank you for your feedback regarding our Bus Routes for 2023.  We are aware that a number of families have found it difficult to access convenient bus stops and travel times following the changes that were made and we appreciate your patience as we have worked through possible solutions.

In order to meet the needs of more of our families, please find attached updated route information.

We trust that these changes will assist families in transporting students to school.

These changes will take place beginning Wednesday, 15 February 2023.

  • If your child is booked onto the bus and there is no change of pick up / drop off stop required, you do not need to do anything as we will transfer these students to our new bus rolls.
  • If your child is booked onto the bus and you would like to change the stop they are using, please email busservice@stpeters.nsw.edu.au with the new stop number.
  • If you are yet to book your child onto the bus, please complete the following form referencing the bus stop you would like to use.

Once again, we appreciate your patience and feedback as we work together at St Peter's.

2024 Pre-Kindergarten / Kindergarten Information Sessions and Tour

On Thursday, 2 March, we will be holding two Information Sessions for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten 2024 at 10.00am & 6.00pm.
If you have younger siblings who will be turning 4 prior to 30 April 2024 we would love to see you on this occasion.  We know that so many of our families are at St Peter's due to a recommendation from friends and family, and so would appreciate your assistance by inviting friends or family with children of this age to come along and find out about the wonderful Early Learning experiences offered by our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programmes.
This session will be an information session regarding our programmes and the enrolment process, with booking details for Interviews emailed to families who have registered following this evening.   Interviews will take place onsite beginning Saturday, 11 March 2023.
Registration for this event can be found on our website or by clicking here to register.

Welcome to 2023

I always love the start of a new year, and the possibilities that come with a fresh start. I hope that you and your family have been able to rest over the school holidays, and are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning together.

Learning is a Partnership

Please remember that the best learning for your child/children is one that is in partnership with us. Over the first few weeks, your child's teacher will be taking the time to get to know them, and how they learn best. Please use this time to simply come and say hi and if you have anything you feel your child's teacher needs to know, feel free to send them a note through the student diary!

In Week 7, a formal opportunity will be provided through Parent Teacher Conferences, to have more in depth conversations about the progress being made. Further information will be provided in due course.

Home Learning 2023

St Peter's utilises an 'opt in' approach towards Home Learning, or more traditionally, homework. We recognise the busyness of family life, as well as the wealth of extra-curricular opportunities for students out of school hours. Time is precious! Research also shows that our learners require balance in their day, and rest and play is just as beneficial as explicit teaching.

Our key focus for Home Learning in 2023 will be around reading! More information will come about this new initiative as we iron out some final details, however, we would love for students to connect with the importance of reading, not just for academic growth, but also for enjoyment. Reading is the basis of many skills for life, therefore, this part of home learning is an expectation for all students.

Numeracy practice will be an 'opt in' option for families in Years 1 - 6. Families will be provided with a booklet of activities that consolidate foundational skills as learned throughout the school term, noting that the booklet covers the entire school term and no further work will be provided. Classroom teachers will acknowledge returned booklets, and provide feedback where necessary.

Further information regarding Home Learning in Kindergarten will be provided by the teachers in the coming weeks.

Additionally, students will have access to digital platforms, such as Mathletics, to access from home. Stickers will be placed in student diaries outlining login details.

Home Learning will commence in Week 3.

Welcome to OSHC

Mrs Lana Schwigtenberg - OSHC Coordinator

The St Peter’s OSHC team would like to warmly welcome all our families to OSHC for 2023. The children are getting to know our routines and are beginning to make some beautiful connections with one another and the educators.

OSHC is such a unique environment it’s a place where children relax, play and unwind. One of the most important parts of OSHC is socialising.  OSHC caters for children in Pre-K up to Year 6, having an environment with such a diverse age range allows children to develop friendships across our entire school community. This benefits both our older students as they take on a leadership role and develop a sense of responsibility and empathy. Our younger students benefit from spending time with the older students as it builds their self-confidence, communication skills as well as further develops their understanding of friendships. All these skills help the children to build and maintain positive relationships with others.

We would like to sincerely thank you for all of your continued support and patience throughout this difficult period with increasing our attendance capacity. Please know we are currently working on this problem. We understand this is difficult for our families but, we are proud of our Service and we need to ensure we are continuing to provide a service of high quality care for all of the children meeting required staff - student ratios.

Weeks 1 & 2

The children have been busy over the first two weeks of OSHC engaging on lots of activities. Although we have had some warm days the children have loved their outdoor play. The have had fun playing tennis, handball, golf, parachute play, hockey and using the climbing equipment.

We have been busy celebrating Chinese New Year through many play and craft activities. Along with many other activities including painting, drawing and colouring while experimenting with a variety of different mediums. The children have also enjoyed building with the construction toys, STEM activities and lots of sensory play including water play, play dough, sand and rice play.

No Hat No Play

Children are required to bring a hat from home to play outside at OSHC.
Please note that children are unable to wear their walking hats or use their class play hats.

Operation Christmas Child

Annually, St Peter’s OSHC work with the Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child Organisation. This is such a rewarding experience for the children, they develop an understanding that through their help they can assist others in need. We have been overwhelmed in the past with our family’s support and generosity which enabled us to generously pack 24 shoe boxes and send off to children in need. We will be continuing to work with the organisation again this year. Information on this has been sent home with the children. If you have any questions or did not receive this information, please speak with Mrs Lana Schwigtenberg.

In Memory of Trevor Marriage - 14/05/1939 – 31/12/2022

Trevor Marriage was the founding Headmaster at St Peter’s Anglican Primary School from 1983 – 1999.

Under his leadership, the School began its journey into the God-centred, excellent education facility it is today. Trevor was a gifted musician and ensured that all St Peter’s students had an opportunity to learn music. After his retirement as Headmaster, Mr. Marriage continued as bandmaster for many years. He was a member of the Campbelltown Baptist Church choir and the Campbelltown Camden District Band. In fact, he was still performing carols with them in the days leading up to Christmas.

Mr. Marriage attended Campbelltown Anglican Churches and was a committed believer in God. He was assured of salvation through Jesus and ready to meet his Lord.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, particularly his two sons and two granddaughters.

Mrs. Megan Blencowe
Chairwoman, on behalf of all the St Peter’s Anglican School staff.
